Pvt. Phillip Albert
United States Marines
from:Illinois, United States
POW Camp Fukuoka 17 in Japan
Additional Information:
I'd like to take the opportunity to pay tribute to my Uncle Phillip Albert, a Marine, who was captured by the Japanese due to the surrender of US forces at Bataan/Corrigador.
He survived the infamous "Death March" and was a forced laborer in Japanese coal mines for the much of WWII. He was held at the Fukuoka Camp and was finally liberated after Japan was defeated.
He survived and that feat alone is truly amazing. Semper Fi.
